A Good Finish Begins Before Paint
Many wall finish problems begin below the final coat. Putty, primer and paint each perform a different role, and the sequence matters. Skipping a step or applying products in the wrong order can affect smoothness, colour uniformity and long-term appearance.
Step 1: Prepare the Surface
Remove loose material, dust, grease, dampness and old flaking paint. Cracks or major defects should be repaired before finishing work begins. The wall should be sound, clean and reasonably dry.
Step 2: Apply Wall Putty Where Needed
Wall putty helps level surface imperfections and create a smoother base. It is especially useful where a refined interior finish is expected. Putty should be applied as per product direction and allowed to dry before sanding or further coating.
Step 3: Use Primer
Primer helps create a suitable bridge between the prepared wall and the paint system. It supports better adhesion and can improve the uniformity of the final colour.
Step 4: Finish With Paint
Paint should be applied only after preparation layers are complete and dry. Follow recommended dilution, number of coats and drying intervals.
